Youth employment within the Portuguese (Kristang) community in Melaka faces unique challenges due to limited local job opportunities and the decline of traditional livelihoods. Many youths seek work beyond their community, often without access to skills training or strong employment networks. Strengthening industry-ready skills, hospitality pathways, and heritage-based employment can empower Kristang youth to secure sustainable jobs while preserving their cultural identity.
